Education
In 2013, I completed my undergraduate education at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA and double-majored in molecular biology & theatre arts, while also earning a minor in mathematics. As a student, I engaged in several extracurriculars including ballroom dance, epigenetics research, volunteering in the emergency & cardiorespiratory departments of Pomona Valley Hospital, and building sets in the Pomona College Scene Shop. My time at Pitzer College provided a top-tier education that has not only expanded my knowledge base, but taught me the crucial skill of lifelong learning.
After gaining post-graduate research and medical skills, I pursued a master’s degree in medical humanities at the University of Rochester Medical Center. This program offered insight into the patient experience by considering countless medical narratives, applying bioethical principles to case scenarios, exploring philosophical frameworks for contextualizing medical care, and recognizing historical impacts on the state of contemporary medicine. The curriculum integrated the biopsychosocial model within each course, which repeatedly demonstrated how the interconnectivity of social, political, and individual factors contribute to healthcare outcomes.
